Available now on Beta, This feature is in beta testing and will roll out to everyone soon.
What is this?
Plan Tomorrow starts the next day's daily from today's daily. Every person and machine on today's daily carries over, with or without hours, so the foreman does not start from zero. Who runs which machine carries over too. You change only what is different. Production goals come from the project budget.
You can also ask for machines and people you need. Each one shows its status, so you know if it is free. A machine or person that is busy on another job goes to dispatch as a request.
Who's this for?
- Foremen, who set up tomorrow's crew and machines before they leave the site.
- Superintendents, who check who is on which job tomorrow.
- Dispatchers, who get the requests and the call-offs from the field.
How to use it
Step 1: Click Plan Tomorrow
Open a daily from Operations > Dailies and go to the report step. Click Plan Tomorrow in the report header.
Step 2: Read the plan
The page asks Anything changing tomorrow? It shows the crew, the assets and who runs which machine for the next day. When today's daily has production, the production goals show too.
You do not need hours first. The counts include every person and machine on today's daily, also when nobody has hours yet. You can plan tomorrow before you finish today's daily.
Step 3: Pick the day
Click the Planning for date to plan a later day. You cannot pick a day before tomorrow.
Step 4: Change the crew
Click Change Crew. Clear the box next to each person who is off tomorrow. Temporary crew members show by name. Click Apply.
Step 5: Change the assets
Click Change Assets. Clear the box next to each asset you release.
Step 6: Change who runs which machine
The Same assignments row shows how many people stay on their machine tomorrow. Click Change Assignments. Each machine for tomorrow shows the person who ran it today.
Click the operator name to pick a different person. Click + Operator to put a person on a machine that has no operator. Click Apply. The row then names each change.
Step 7: Request what you need
Open the New Request tab in Change Crew or Change Assets. Each row shows its status. On and a project name means it works on another job. Requested by and a name means another foreman already asked for it. Tick what you need and click Apply.
Step 8: Check what went out
After Apply, a message tells you what happened. Dispatched counts what is yours for that day. Requested from dispatch counts what waits for dispatch to approve.
Step 9: Save the plan
Click Save Tomorrow's Plan. Click Skip for Now to leave without a plan, or Back to the Daily to return.
Step 10: Check the call-off
A person you clear shows as CALLED OFF. When you save, Clue releases that person from the project and tells dispatch. The message says Released: 1. Dispatch notified. The person now shows as available.
Step 11: Check tomorrow's daily
Open tomorrow's daily from Operations > Dailies. On the Crew step, each person is on the machine they ran today. A person who ran two machines has one row for each machine.
On the Assets step, each machine shows its operator. A temporary crew member keeps their machine on the Crew step only. On the Assets step, that machine shows + Operator.
The full details
- Same crew: Tomorrow starts from the project roster, so anyone assigned is already on it.
- Same assets: Assets still assigned to this project carry over.
- Hours not needed: Every person and machine on today's daily carries over, with or without hours. The counts on each row include all of them.
- Removed from today: A person or machine you remove from today's daily does not carry over.
- Deleted daily: A deleted daily does not show Plan Tomorrow.
- Same assignments: Who runs which machine carries over from today. Hours and T&M marks do not carry over.
- Two machines: A person who ran two machines today gets one row for each machine tomorrow.
- Call-offs and assignments: An assignment carries over only when the person and the machine both come tomorrow. A machine whose operator you call off has no operator. A person whose machine you release has no machine.
- Requested machines: A machine you request has no operator on tomorrow's daily. Add the operator when the machine arrives.
- No machines: When no machine carries over, the Same assignments row shows Nothing to change.
- Close without changes: Click outside the Change Assignments list to close it. Your picks are not kept.
- Production goals: They carry from the budget, so there is nothing to change.
- Called off: A person or asset you clear does not carry over.
- Arriving: A person or asset you request shows as arriving.
- Temporary crew members: They show by name in Change Crew. They carry to the next day's daily with the machine they were on, with no hours yet. The machine stays on their row on the Crew step. On the Assets step, that machine has no operator.
- Status on each row: Every machine and person in New Request shows its status for the planned day.
- Requested by: Shows open requests from other foremen. Your own requests do not show this label.
- Shops and yards: A machine or person in a shop or a yard does not count as busy on another job.
- Busy picks become requests: With this company setting on, a machine or person busy on another job goes to dispatch as a request. People on vacation or training become requests too. Dispatch approves each request.
- Call-off releases people: With this company setting on, a call-off takes the person off the project. Their status changes to your company's available status, and dispatch gets a notification.
- Status stays: A person on vacation or training keeps that status. A person who still works on another job keeps their status too.
- Nobody gets the notification: If nobody in your company receives these notifications, the message tells you to tell dispatch yourself.
- Company settings: Requests for busy picks and the call-off release are company settings that Clue's team turns on for you.
- Another date: The save button changes to Save Plan for the day you pick.
- Day already submitted: Clue adds nothing and tells you the status of that day's daily.
Tips
- Dispatch needs your lineup early? Plan tomorrow before you enter today's hours.
- Plan tomorrow before you leave the site. The crew and machines are fresh in your mind.
- Fix the assignments before you save the plan. Tomorrow's crew then starts on the right machines.
- Read the status on each row before you tick it. A free machine arrives faster than one that needs approval.
- If a machine shows Requested by another foreman, talk to that foreman or to dispatch first.
- You also see Plan tomorrow's work right after you submit a daily.
