Performance Dashboard

4 min read

What is this?

The Performance Dashboard shows how hard your machines are working today. It ranks your assets into Top Performers and Bottom Performers and shows where each one is on a map. Use it during the day to spot idle machines and move them to where the work is.

Performance Dashboard with Top Performers and Bottom Performers lists next to a map of the machines

Who's this for?

  • Equipment managers, find machines that sit idle and move them.
  • Superintendents and foremen, check which machines on the job are working right now.
  • Dispatchers, see where the busiest and the most idle machines are.

How to use it

Step 1: Open the dashboard

In the main menu, go to Insights > Reports and click Performance Dashboard.

Step 2: Read the Top Performers

The Top Performers list ranks machines by Utilization Index, the share of today that the machine did real work. The bar under Hours By Machine splits the day into working, idle and engine off time.

Step 3: Check the Bottom Performers

The Bottom Performers list ranks machines by Idle Index, the share of today that the engine ran without working. These are the machines to look at first.

Step 4: Compare one type of machine

Click an asset type at the top, for example Wheel Loader. Both lists and the map show only that type. Click it again to show all types.

Step 5: Find the machines on the map

The map shows a pin for each machine. Green pins are top performers, red pins are bottom performers, blue pins are operating and gray pins are off or disconnected. The Legend in the corner explains the colors.

Step 6: Filter by project or manufacturer

Click Filters. Turn Show Operational Assets Only on or off, and pick projects or manufacturers. Close the panel to apply.

The full details

  • Where to find it: Insights > Reports > Performance Dashboard, in the web app.
  • Time period: the dashboard shows today, counted from 7:00 AM to the last update from each machine.
  • Utilization Index: working time (operating hours minus idle hours) divided by the time from 7:00 AM to the last update.
  • Idle Index: idle hours divided by the same time.
  • Hours By Machine: three parts of the day: working, idle and engine off, with the hours and the percentage of each.
  • Last Update: the time of the last telematics update from the machine.
  • Show Operational Assets Only: on by default. It shows only machines that ran at least 30 minutes today (default setting).
  • Asset type buttons: you can select more than one. Your choice stays when you come back to the page.
  • Auto Refresh: when it is on, the dashboard moves to the next asset type every 2 minutes. Use it on a screen in the office or the shop.
  • Visibility: the dashboard shows in your menu only when your company has it turned on.

Tips

  • Compare one asset type at a time, a loader and a truck do different work.
  • Check the Bottom Performers mid-morning, when there is still time to move a machine.
  • A machine with a long engine off bar may be waiting for an operator or for material.
  • Turn on Auto Refresh on a wall screen so the whole crew sees the numbers.
